Give a girl a handbag and she will be happy. Teach a girl to sew and she will be fulfilled. Designer Jenna Bertels has loved pretty sparkly things since she was a wee child. Her grandmother recognized this as untapped talent and taught seven-year-old Jenna to sew.

Armed with knowledge, Jenna designed her own clothes and by the time she entered college, created her own handbags. Her friends envied her creations and soon they were on the arms of everyone she knew.

Sparked by encouragement and the fire of creativity, Jenna moved to Portland in 2004 to build a design company with the help of her business-savvy mom, Lynn Kirwan. The two are generating buzz in Portland with the launch of their company, Pure EnV.
